Getting ready to roll out of our nation’s capitol and it’s been alternately fun and frustrating. Some lessons learned:
1. Me and my 86-pound mutt can indeed stowaway in the women’s dorm for three days.
2. The money I saved on hotel bills was made up for in parking fines outside the building.
3. Chicken bones abound.
4. My daughter is as scrappy as I am. More on that later.
5. People wear ridiculous shoes – both tourists and the millions of office workers on the street.
6. DC is NOT as dog friendly as NYC, and based on what I’ve seen, the folks are much more serious. It’s all that policy-making.
7. People who work for the Smithsonian Gardens love their jobs.
8. There are prophets on park benches.
We’re on to Charlottesville. More later. Peace out.
Fabulous. Can’t wait to hear more.
I don’t know what to say about the chicken bones. What a strange thing to learn about our nation’s public parks and the people who use them! Perhaps, as people walk with baggies to pick up poo, dogs should walk with baggies to pick up the bones that people drop… (?)
Glad you had such a great time – and how could I have forgotten to mention the chicken bones in my comment on your last post? What a fascinating observation that there are bones lying all over the place. I guess one day archaeologists will uncover them and determine what we ate (a lot of chicken!), like how they do with ancient civilizations today. Safe travels to your next destination!
I’m still on your trail, virtually. I was sure you’d straighten out those idiots in DC. Don’t come home for awhile. It’s so hot, Sadie tiptoes on our walks. About chicken: according to Yahoo, chicken is very high in protein.
